YTD Application in Tea

Start YTD ground application from March or April after receiving of good rain(2") from unprune young teas sections after weedicide spraying.

Always apply in Disc /Ring Manuring in Young Teas.


  • Young Tea Dose(YTD)- 10 - 15 gr./Plant/ Round X 4 Split


  • Requirement of YTD/ha. - Nos of plants/ha. X 10-15 gr. ÷ 1000 = ___kgs

  • Example -
  • =12300 x 10 gr. ÷ 1000 = 123 kgs/ Split.


  • YTD Doses per Year/ha.-

      Years  - Quantity/ ha. - Nos of Split

  1. 1st    -      400  kgs        -          4
  2. 2nd  -       800 kgs        -          4
  3. 3rd   -     1000 kgs        -          3
  4. 4th   -     1200 kgs        -          2
  5. 5th   -     1400 kgs.       -          2


  • Preparation of YTD :-
  • Ratio of Mixture - N : P : K -

  1. Mixture "C"  - 1 : 2 : 2
  2. Mixture "D" - 2 : 1 : 2
  3. Mixture "E"  - 2 : 1 : 3 (Currently using)


  • YTD preparation with mixture "E" ratio - 

  1. N - from Urea(46% N) -1 N =  2.17
  2. P  - from SSP(16% P)   - 1 N = 6.25
  3. K - from MOP(60% K) - 1 N = 1.67

Then,

  1. N with Urea = 2 x 2.17 = 4.34 kgs.
  2. P  with SSP   = 1 x 6.25 = 6.25 kgs.
  3. K with MOP = 3 x 3.17  = 5.01 kgs.

             Total                             - 15.60 kgs.


  • For 100 kgs YTD preparation =       100÷ 15.60=6.41 


  • So, requirement of Fertilizer -

  1. Urea = 4.34 x 6.41 = 27.82 kgs.
  2. SSP.  =  6.25 x 6.41 = 40.07 kgs
  3. MOP = 5.01 x 6.41 = 32.11 kgs

          Total                       -100.00 kgs



  • YTD/Manuring in RP & MP -
  • In 0 Year - 
  1. Apply YTD in Young Infills @ 15 gr./plant X 2 times.
  2. In Mature Tea @ 50 gr./plant X 2 times.

  • In 1st Year -  
  1. Apply in Infills @ 20 gr./plant X 4 times.
  2. In Mature Tea @ 80 gr./plant X 2 times.

  • In 2nd Year - 
  1.  Apply in Infills @ 25 gr./plant X 4 times.
  2. In Mature Tea @ 80 gr./plant X 2 times

Processing of Orthodox Tea Orthodox Tea - In the process we use rolling tables to roll the leaves and turn them into half opened leaves. These teas are best in brisk & fragrance but soft in liquor. Stages of manufacturing - 1. Plucking - The process in which pluck 1 bud with 2 small leaves from top of bushes, best if plucked only buds.  For Orthodox manufacturing we pluck leaves in early morning to avoid tiny black spots on Orthodox teas. 2. Collection - The plucked leaves is collected after weighment in crate to maintain their softness.  3. Transportation - Then by vehicle, it is send to factory for manufacturing 4.
